Meeting TOMORROW, May 25

Earnest Yearwood is making the trek from Milledgeville to remind us of the beauty inherent in small and miniature daylilies. Earnest is a very entertaining speaker, so it's sure to be a good time. Bring your friends, and anticipate going home with a new daylily, as well as bargain plants and door prizes. Remember: 10am, Stiles Auditorium, 320 West Cherokee Ave, Cartersville. See you there!

2013 NWGDS Garden Tour

On June 22, NWGDS will be hosting a garden tour to raise money for our 2014 Region 5 Spring Conference. Five gardens will be on the tour, mostly in the Cartersville area. Your ten dollar donation provides admission to all five tours. Tickets are available at each garden, and can be purchased in advance from any NWGDS member. If it rains on the 22nd, we'll tour on the 23rd. For more information and directions, click here.

2013 Spring Regional - Valdosta

Fourteen members of the Northwest Georgia Daylily Society trekked to Valdosta for a fun-filled weekend full of friends and flowers. In this photo, they're scattered in amongst the other attendees as we toured one of the several gardens on display. We heard a rumor that the Bishops almost had to leave their passengers in Valdosta in order to fit all the new daylilies into the car. That won't be an issue next year because the meeting will be so close to all of our homes (you did know we're hosting next year's spring regional, right?).

Don't Forget!

Our next meeting is on May 25 at 10am. Stiles Auditorium, Cartersville. Earnest Yearwood will be talking to us about small and miniature daylilies. Door prizes, good food, bargain plant table, and FREE DAYLILY FOR VISITORS. Y'all come!

And remember -- the Region 5 Fall Meeting will be at the Cobb Galleria in October.

Why daylilies?

Of all the plants available to grow in Georgia, what makes daylilies so special?

I'm confident every member of NWGDS would give you a different reason for why daylilies are special to him or her. Some would say the plant will live through anything, others that the hybridizing challenges give them a reason to get out of bed every day, and still others might say they just like to look at the pretty flowers. Whatever the reason, daylilies grow in peoples' hearts as well as their gardens, and once a person is bitten by the daylily bug, they're never the same.

Meeting Info

Our next meeting will be at 10am on May 25 2013, at Stiles Auditorium in Cartersville.

See you there!
